we're a bit late with this episode as we wanted to wait for the results in the bye-elections.

The supposedly "Knife-edge" seats in the Deep North weren't,  the WA pair, because the Ruling Rabble decided not to turn up were solid Labor and the Downer Duchy of Mayo has again revolted, this time more decisively to retain an independent, causing The Gorgon's daddy, Fishnets-That-Batter to complain that the peasants were very rude because "....they are new to here...." before whisking away in his Maserati.  The Gorgon herself in the best intellectualism of her IPA and Gina Rinehart funded secret society ($4.5 Mill... some charity) announced in defeat that she would put herself forward again as a candidate at next year's general election, proving that when the IPA fall in a hole all they want is to keep on digging.

It's a salient point too; the IPA is becoming very much on-the-nose. With Ruling Rabble "policy" having been lifted wholesale from the Le Jongleur Roskam's bible of deceit and more widely being viewed as "policy" not in the country's best interests;  with so many of their apparatchiks perched on the government benches like Quisling Gargoyles waiting to flay more flesh from the body politic, it looks as though the- times-are-a-changing.

And perhaps not.

Nine Entertainment has bought Fairfax newspapers which despite assertions that editorial integrity and fearless reporting will remain its hallmark it's difficult to disagree with ex PM Keating's observation that "...the pus of the Nine carbuncle will eventually seep through..." the Fairfax newsroom. And adding insult to public injury Fifi Fifield, The Ugly American, Murdoch's Communications Toy-Boy and IPA parliamentary representative stated that the merger would actually enhance media diversity.

What I think Fifi was getting at was that the consolidation of right-wing media (making Australian media one of the most consolidated in the world) will allow for more diverse right-wing content with only "bit" players like The Saturday Paper and The Guardian to offer a print alternative. The ABC is also a loser in this as they had enjoyed some good joint investigative work with Fairfax and it is unlikely that this will continue and will come under further sustained attack by the commercials. Because forget not, ... FIFI used to work for the most  incompetent Ruling Rabble Treasurer (excepting the current imbecile), Peter Costello who now happens to be Chairman of Nine!

Remember when Australia was a "larrikin" nation, celebrated as a "Fair Dinkum" breed-apart from its colonial masters, thumbing its nose at overweening authority and mythicized as the "workers paradise of the South" where "a fair go" and a "fair day's pay for a fair day's work" were part of an egalitarian social contract, and "mate-ship" was real?

Well Petals,  the "thumbing your nose at authority" bit was finally put to rest last week when Labor supported the Ruling Rabble's Foreign Influence and Transparency Bill through the Senate.

Now, thumbing your nose at the Government of the day ( may we get one soon), by writing a researched  article critical of it, planning or participating in a demonstration against its programs or intentions, will land you with a minimum of seven up to 25 years in jail.

For now, it is a criminal act to plan or to demonstrate en masse and you will be deemed a threat to security and the army can now be called in to disperse you. 

Imagine, if you will, Potato-Head Dutton taking umbrage at being criticized for lacking compassion, empathy and understanding the rights of humanity and that his concentration camps full of refugees, are illegal and an abomination? Can you imagine his pleasure in sooling the dogs of war onto his own people out of sheer venal spite because he was being held accountable for his malicious cruelty?

No?  Why are we so different to the humanity he has incarcerated illegally for so long?

But wait there's more... the legislation will also support the so-called "free trade deals" where multi-national business can sue a country who use legislation to protect its own or where legislation interferes with their profit. In other words your government becomes an agent for the multi-national and will use its draconian powers to suppress any dissent from the local populace being affected by the multi-national.

But wait.. it goes further...concurrent with this gross diminution of free speech and congruent to it, alleged Attorney General, the Un-Christian Porter has sent for trial (in secret) Witness K and his lawyer who blew-the-whistle on Australia's illegal bugging of the Timor-Leste government offices under the aegis of Little Johnny Howard and his cross-dressing Foreign minister Fishnets-that-Batter, Downer eleven years ago.  Then, Australia diddled the Timorese out of their fair share of the oil riches beneath the sea near their coast.

Interestingly, included in the arraigned are four ABC journalists who reported on the nefarious actions of Howard, Downer and ASIO at the time including one, Emma Alberici, who currently is no pin-up gel for the Ruling Rabble.

More interesting is the fact that the Newscorp journo who broke the story in The Ugly American's "Australian" in the first place, has not been called.  Vindictive and petty?

Annabel Crabb was hosting “Insiders,” attempting to replicate Barrie Cassidy who is on leave. Having obviously been fed not only food on her lunch date with Truffles earlier in the week but Ruling Rabble talking points as well, Crabb was outplayed by Wayne Swann who was direct and clear in his answers, something the Ruling Rabble never are and although attempting to find division, she never followed up on a reply to tease out more content, often cutting off the end of Swann’s answer to limit him cementing a case different to the one she was pursuing.

Did we mention that Hissy-Fits Sales was at the lunch with Truffles as well?

It was like reading out a recipe of one star difficulty as the program degenerated with hosting the politically lopsided panel of Saava, Coory and Crowe all sitting and smugly agreeing with each other’s “talking-points” on just what a disaster (in their Murdoched minds) Willie Shortstuff’s tax policy adjustment was and trying to beat up a leadership challenge in the best of the Ugly American’s tradition while ignoring the fact that it was July 1^st and worker's penalty rates were being cut again but with the Prime Miniature and all other pollies simultaneously getting a 2% pay rise: Truffles raking in a $7,000.00 yearly increase ….

The demise of "the Larrikin" was hastened, too when Senate clown and IPA fellow- traveller, Loopy Leyonhjelm in debate about  "respecting the safety of women" (but really wanting them all to be able to buy 7-15 shot Adler 's for their handbags) confused his own more important thoughts to the words spoken by Senator Hanson-Young and in high dudgeon retaliation, told her to "...stop shagging men"....and when she confronted him over this, then told her to "F**K Off!"  Confusing his "libertarian" cover with being an honest larrikin, and being roundly castigated in the press and at interview on this matter Loopy showed all the recalcitrance and indignant outrage of a 14 yo schoolboy pretending not to know what had gone wrong... Nahh, youse dunno anyfing.... ya pussys!  ...and it seems he is obviously garnering favour with the alt-right (he likes his Milo), Patriot Fascists and Tru-blu's for the next senate election.... if they can locate a polling booth, that is ....and read the voting form.

Budget Blues or The Pea and Thimble Con.

The blatant vindictiveness and almost mind numbing hypocrisy of this current ruling rabble has really come to the fore now that Willy Shortstuff has given his budget reply speech.

Labelling his gazumping of their paltry and deceitful tax cuts to low and middle income earners as "unbelieva-BILL" and revelling in three of his parliamentarians having to vacate the opposition benches to face bye-elections because of dual citizenship woes, their raucously, bitchy sloganeering is just a cover for fear of what in a few weeks will be a series of opinion polls which, in all likely-hood, will accurately indicate the paucity of their future national electoral prospects.

Lashing out by cutting funding to anyone they see as a threat, the national broadcaster the ABC has again been singled out for more punishment with another $84,000,000.00 being slashed from its budget bringing the total cuts to over $300,000,000.00 since 2013 when Rabid-the-Hun publicly lied and promised no cuts at all.

Graeme Innes former Disability and Discrimination Commissioner said, "This is about members of the Government having a view that the ABC is biased to the left....and when you think some-one is against you... you cut their funding."

...and on the same program Ugly American Murdoch shill, The Slug Sloane smirked as she agreed and said simply, "It was payback."

When Petals, I wrote the headline banner on the top of this blog I really hoped  that "...the inexorable slide into Fascism." would not happen. Obviously It was a forlorn hope as we are nearly at the bottom of that abyss as freedom of speech is attacked, unions are demonised and fined out of existence, wages are being cut and fear and anxiety are promoted whilst state surveillance is a growing threat to personal liberty.

I was speaking with an ABC staffer recently who said how much they enjoyed reading this blog  but went on indicate that "...it was more than their job was worth to comment publicly."

I suggested he complain to his nearest IPA manager over restriction of freedom of speech.

Even Gutless Guthrie the ABC's Murdoch trained MD has for once complained at the cuts and there is talk that morale is low and further, that staff are becoming restive.

Adding insult to injury in their Pea and Thimble chicanery, the ruling rabble have decided to spend some $48.7 millions of the ABC's cut to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Capt. Cook's landing. And with another monument .... making I believe, a total of 36 in the country.

Simon, The Simple Breheny, who has never been fettered by such an inhibiting factor as thinking and  also a shill from the IPA (Coot's-with-Queer-Ideas-From-a-Parallel-Universe) has shrilly alerted the world to Willy Shortstuff's budget-in-reply speech as being communist and that,  "... the idea of the State owning what you create, abhorrent."

Obviously unaware of the economic strength of Communist China, Simon The Simple rails against governments owning utilities (like the Malay and Chinese govs own significant electricity supplies here) or providing for Police, Hospitals, Schools, Broadcasting to the Nation and all those other economically wasteful services that actually bind communities together as a civil society.

Better, this hypocritical taxpayer funded think-tanker asserts, we spend our taxes on the 1% who know what's good for us and let the "free" market run wild.

More Coot's-with-Queer-Ideas-From-a-Parallel-Universe have popped up recently. One proselytising his cant on QandA,  Timmy, The Twat Wilson unfortunately was completely "owned" by self-described "Sustainability Provocateur, Designer, Sociologist, Experimental Educator and Social Change Maker," Leyla Acaroglu.  Openly laughing at The Twat's comments this bright young woman beautifully exposed the banality of the member for Goldstein's little mind and his utter embarrassing uselessness as a contemporary thinker and mightily discomforting this vain, right-wing lump into the bargain.

The third of this wretched trio is  Georgina, The Gorgon Downer who has gained ruling rabble pre-selection for the Adelaide seat of Mayo, being the third or fourth generation of Downers to bludge off the taxpayer in that seat.

Like her father, Fishnets-that-Batter, she is not noted for any outstanding qualities. The Gorgon has not, I reckon, had one original thought in her life, her rote IPA commentary on radio and TV being the most tediously soporific celebration of right-wing mediocrity that makes even Timmy Twat and Simon The Simple look like intellectuals of the first rank.

But, on the bright side, should the electors of Mayo let their better judgment desert them, at least she will no longer pollute the air waves in Victoria as much.

The Calm Before The Storm...?

Xmas has come and quietly gone with a side tour to Trentham Falls and a photo-op just up the road from the burrow at O' Brien's Crossing... to replicate the Wombat's Gels sitting together on the same rock they had sat on and  photographed many, many years ago.

At the Falls there were many people ignoring warning signs and climbing barriers attempting the 32 metre descent to the bottom of the falls down a rough, narrow path... and many others proving their place in existence with "selfies." 

Self was also central at O'Brien's with people camping along the pebbled fringes of the barely running and narrow Lederderg River: the most notable being the palatial white marquee whose occupants had thoughtfully placed their chugging generator closer to campsites other than their own so they could enjoy watching the televised test cricket in the relative quiet of their tent.

Mrs Wombat and I also came across some other campers cooking up an aromatic storm of b-b-q'd Lamb who told us they were Persian and kindly offered us a delicious sample of their fare.... I hope that they have nothing to worry about with the current ructions in their homeland.

The Wombat gels were late arriving back have spent time trying to douse a campfire that had been left smouldering (a day before a day of total fire ban) and out of mobile range for a  call in the CFA to deal with it.

Some postulate that the selfish actions seen here are a result of the "Age of Anxiety". The age where for the young, everything is so controlled and intervention so complete that real success or failure is never experienced, limits are never broached and experiential development is stalled until "adulthood" is reached and self absorption, ignorance of collectivism and societal common purpose has decayed and corrupted till only a nihilistic individual hedonism  is recognisable.

VicPol  have, after another nutter used his vehicle as a weapon on city crowds placed a malfunctioning tannoy warning system around the city: "Whoop, whoop, whoop... there is an emergency taking place, please don't panic in the vicinity of Swanston and Latrobe!" ...... and also spent considerable time telling the population how many heavily armed officers will be patrolling on N Y E and that "...wherever you are, we are here to look after you and keep you safe... from whatever disaster or riot might eventuate."

It was hard not to get a sense that they were actually salivating at the prospect of a riot so that they could justify their existence and bang someone on the head or let off a few celebratory 40 Cal Smith and Wesson rounds.

The word "riot," was used, too!  Be fearful, fear everything, Big Brother will look after (control) you!

On the federal front: Fishnets-That-Batter, Downer, (soon to be replaced by Bookshelves Brandarse  as our  High Ponce in London) prior to last years election in the Un-United States, had, not only  a very boozy chat with one of Pussy-Grabber Trump' s apparatchiks who apparently revealed "the Russian Connection" to the pussy Grabber's campaign but then Fishnets  belched this info to Oz security who dutifully informed the FBI which will, in turn, make the Pussy Grabber and his bestie Putin, a trifle annoyed with Oz.

And why was Fishnets-That-Batter having excessive drinky-poo's with Tea Party trolls on the taxpayer's purse in the first place?

Fresh from the mongrels who can't competently fill our their citizenship declarations comes the story of a Tamil detainee who struggled to fill out 41-page application form in English – and was not able to access legal assistance in time and so, was placed in handcuffs at Villawood detention centre and slated for deportation that evening.

Which is perhaps why latter-day Noe Notion aficionado, Dickie Smith is sensing that this sort of hypocrisy, allied with the yawning and increasing gap in wealth distribution is the reason he feels a real revolution is around the corner…..and why the nobbled ABC in concert with other Ugly American, Murdoch propaganda sheets is peddling the  mis-information that Labor is cracking.... or am I really hearing another tsunami of wishful thinking to divert a nation in a parlous economic and psychological space? 
The Harpy Cash is being hoist on her own petard, Scummo is still talking fiscal and religious fairy tales, Fictions Frydenberg is permanently off with the Hungarian pixies on energy, Jobsongroth, unable to find a renewable contract with decent penalty rates and Barnyard's bullying all and sundry in an effort to prove his virility whilst the Un-xtian Porter (a shallow boy seeking validation of his existence by punching people) unpacks the IPA agenda on Human Rights to lead us back to serfdom. 
Yep, 2018 will see Truffles still playing Canute without a life jacket and will continue to demonstrate his awesome facility of the reverse Midas touch as the world mocks and feeds off us

Truffles in a suit, pretends to  clean down a section of muddy flood damaged wall with  a nail brush.... next he'll be wiping Rabid-the-Hun's feet at some bloody Catlic Easter ceremony!  

Then, with his "Tin" political ear finely attuned he refused a snag sandwich on a street walk....so it's perfectly understandable why the  China / Australian extradition treaty was backflipped 10 minutes after saying they had approved it but forgot to tell their trade minister who was at the time extolling its virtues on national TV.... How much more incompetent can they get?

Fictions Frydenberg and his back-up The Righteous, Kelly seemed rather quiet on that episode... almost as if they understood, at last, that their trickle-down neanderthal-isms and reverse energy myopia were economically and socially useless and their ravings had also been blighted by the positive humanitarian works of Yunus and Thorning-Schmidt.

All three were given promo's in  a "puff-piece' in a Fairfax weekend mag which although it was at length, said little about these harridans of the right precisely because they actually have nothing to offer other than their own inflated, and over-entitled egos.

As symptoms of a failing society these women are exemplars.

Gorgon Downer thinks the minimum wage should be abolished along with penalty rates for the low paid (this current insanity being pushed by her playskool sandpit club for the intellectually and imaginatively bereft, the IPA) and that Brexit was Britain's finest hour since the Battle of. She is interesting to listen to as she becomes completely flummoxed when presented with the economic disaster the implementation of the IPA wish-list is making of this country and apart from repeating the rote cant of Thatcherism, has little of substance to convey. Which is probably why Timmy the Twat ex-Freedom Man Wilson got pre-selection in a safe seat ahead of her.

The Septic Tank, Andrew's, (whose sole qualification is apparently a degree in religious studies, which tells you much) avows a liking for disputation and conflict and public speaking. The pity being she lives in the past and wants to replicate the feudal system. But then, as Oscar Wilde pointed out, America passed from barbarism to decadence with no civilisation in between; so with her cultural baggage and fascination with make-believe friends, her lack of humanity should come as no surprise.

The Preening Princess is, well... just that!  Terming herself a controversialist she's happy to  blather-on  in what she thinks prettily about anything that upsets people..... a sort of delusional child libertarian who really should just "Shuffle Off To Buffalo" and set her "new conservative rebellion" to suitably shrill noises.

These destructive women offer nothing except pain, poverty and the maintenance of their own privileged positions. They present nothing except the return to a class system that millions have lost their lives fighting to overcome and represent all that is regressive, cruel, outdated and just plain wrong.

Truffle's ruling Rabble Mk#2 is preparing to introduce new criminal penalties including jail time for anyone convicted of impersonating a Commonwealth entity.

 Watching "The Drum" t' other night I wanted desperately for someone to drag those children, especially the preening, vacuously self absorbed Princess, Daisy Cousens  back to her IPA sandpit and not allow them a return till they have grown up?

Proudly wearing their self proclaimed titles, (filched, un-originally from the Un-united State's Alt Right) as "controversialists," these smug elitists congratulate each other on their entertainment value in creating as much static on every issue as they can. Wearing chaos as their armour they make muddying the waters rather than dealing with it in a cool rational, analytic manner, their game. Their whole modus-operandi is to sow dissent and confusion and therefore an inability to fully understand and then respond/oppose the social and economic depredations that unbridled capitalism is inflicting on us.

But Princess Daisy is something really else. Lacking real stature she pretends potential but only advertises her flesh. Probably a real "hit" at her Young Liarbril  annual covens and now an IPA apparatchik, she is to intellectualism what Heinz baby food is to haute-cuisine.

And like Gorgon Downer and another 25 YO Catlic proto-fascist, Stephanie Ross plus her husband, egotist, Marcus Bastiaan, the current Liarbril party is far closer to a traditional fascist party and the Ding-Bat ridden Noe Notion asylum than it is to a genuine Liberal party.

Ross rails against the Safe Schools program "that is teaching radical gender theory and warped graphic sex education centred around promiscuity" and as a pro-lifer says that that Australia was "seeing the destruction of religious freedom, free speech, a push towards gay marriage (which won't stop there!) and euthanasia".

G'day Possums,

some more pics from the Archibald which impressed me and a little rant about two amusingly pathetic performances on QandA.

Ohh,  my goodness....  who in their right (sic) mind(s) decided to place two of the most inept, cant driven and lightweight  proselytisers for the Fascist State into public display on national television?

On QandA (7-11-16), the panellists displayed for all to savour were Don Watson, (probably best known as a speech writer for Labor PM Paul Keating) whose droll understated sharpness of wit empathised with the clinical mind of celebrated Canadian social shit stirrer, Noami Klein who was in turn was supported  by Labor leftist, Anthony Albanese.

This formidable trio were pitted against two of the most inept lightweights ever to spill from the Coots-With Queer-Ideas-From-a-Parallel-Universe, (IPA) kindergarten, the newly minted (and probably one only term) senator, Jimbo, Pasty Paterson  and the (ever present, on ABC, at least) false hope of the Downer political dynasty and failed candidate for the federal seat of Goldstein, Georgina, Gorgon Downer. Both, who seemed determined to adhere as instructed or brainwashed to spout the IPA script much of which sounded borrowed from the both the Ugly American, Murdoch's press and the equally dysfunctional "Tea-Party" currently dismembering the American electorate. These two social vandals conclusively proved for the public that the IPA must be a place only inhabited by the most intellectually barren and empathy deficient individuals. (It's worth noting that the science deficient climate change denier, Mal-Addled Roberts from the One Notion Party is also a member and has received funding from them to travel overseas to imbibe more nonsense to dull his already limited perceptions.)

Guy Maestri, Shattered (Griggs)

Uncomfortable at being pulled back to relevance to answer audience questions rather than tangentially delivering their rote propaganda pieces, Pasty's impassive face only showed some emotion as a smug sneer split it when Klein correctly called into question his professed  belief in climate change as a lie and that he and his right-wing think-tank ilk were more than happy to stall any progress toward alternative energy than closing down the polluting fossil fuel industry in attempting to save the planet. Gorgon Downer on the other hand, when eventually able to launch into her interminably mangled and stumbling answers gave me the impression that she would be a perfect dinner party guest to close it down through utter, utter boredom.

As Jane Caro tweeted, this pair's "confected outrage about freedom of speech and 18C" was also shot to pieces by Klein, who observed that the attacks on Gillian Triggs were very similar to those by other right-wing groups in both Britain and the U.S. who see any restraint on their libertarian ability to smear at will an affront to their rights and also that their faux dismay at Trump's proposed wall against the Mexicans was nonsense and in fact was already in place at the Manus and Nauru refugee concentration camps.

This pair of Cuckoo's in the nest also avoided the obvious reason as to why so many places are in political turmoil. Their adherence and promotion of a capitalist system badly in decline, that disadvantages the majority and is causing the death of the planet not only indicates their limited imagination and lack of social responsibility but also their real fear, that of community.
