Uncouth Behaviour as a Political Hallmark

Shane... doing a Joyce.

There was a time when bad behaviour was sanctioned and penalty's applied but not in this brave new world of the Ugly American's  Murdochracy .   More of that later.

More of my pieces from our (last years) two man show which didn't really get an airing as I only photographed them for cataloguing today.

First is "Guten Tag, Kurt." A sideways glance at the work of Kurt Schwitters.

 12mm ply 90 H x 42 W x w30 D. w/ 2mm steel mesh
  Faux rusted steel patina.

Guten Tag, Kurt.

No-one seemed to like this piece but I like its affinity to the Bauhaus of the late 20's and early 30's and also the Russian Constructivists of the 20's... it also  seems to reference Anthony Caro's horizontal sculptural developments in the 60's.

"Swing" is an old piece being repeated atm. Originally made from Privet Hedge, a wood which is quite  hard and a strong material ... in its original form it was sold and now (if it survived the journey), resides in the Mid West of America.      The next iteration will be in Manna Gum.   30 x 30 x 25.
Next from the show was "Paul", a portrait of the fellow who successfully exhibited with me...

Based upon an beautiful expressionistic C15th sculpture by Nicholas Gerheart Leyden, this piece  more accurately reflects the quiet contemplative nature of the sitter . Cast resin, faux bronze patina, 35H x 30 W  x 30.

"Maggie" has appeared on this blog before but there may be news about this piece in a month or two.

Uncouth Behaviour as a Political Hallmark

"Drone" Dutton, can he ever tell the truth or is he just  more obviously evil than the thing he replaced?
"Barnyard" Joyce, is he just an alchoholic sponge or a Canberra tourist attraction?
"The Harpy", Cash, why does she seem wholly demented and are the Sulphur Crested Cockies really complaining about image theft?
"An_us" Taylor who allegedly forges letters and who congratulates himself on Farcebook is really a  "leader"...but of what ?
"Handy Andy", Hastie  seems more akin to the Waffen SS... and just why did that nick-name stick after his "tour" in Afghanistan?
"Pansy" Paterson,  an IPA "intellectual" (that's a joke folks), who would look genuinely appropriate in a Hitler Youth cossie, sans face-fluff, of course, who takes himself so seriously that everyone can only laugh.

This is a brief look at what is supposed to be an alternative government, the leftovers from nine years on corruption, mismanagement, policy inertia and bad faith.

One  positive note is , "The Bullying-Liar-from-the-Shire" and" multiple-minister," he who stated, "I don't hold a hose, mate", "Scummo of Advertising" who was the  "Front" of the last disaster to befall the country is departing our shores.
Australia's gain will be the Yankee's loss. But will he have to return to  face ICAC?

But all this dross is constantly feted by our media. Why?

Because of the Ugly American, Murdoch's  infiltration of the ABC and a 75% control of all media in this country.
He and his minions are frightened that their sway on what has been a supine public is fading; that the rhetoric of fear, catastrophe and frankly, bullshit is more and more being seen for what it is, just bullshit!

The "News" we have pushed at us is not news at all, it is a collection of data to serve the purpose of billionaires and their business interests.
Does Murdoch have interests in Gaza ...through the Israeli's?
Does "Our Biggest Miner" Rinehart live in Indonesia?
Does "Twiggy" really have the interests of the indigenous at heart?

Oz  petals, needs to grow up...

Hoo-roo,
Shane.

Shane with new sculpture

It's been a long time between drinks.

The last post (pun intended), was the day following Albo's Labor, the Greens and "Teal" Independents  rout in comprehensively eliminating the vile Scummo and his Ruling Rabble-Hellsong-IPA cabal from further rorting the taxpayer, lowering standards of behaviour and making a mockery of parliament.

Much, on that front, has happened since and I will detail some of the events later in the blog.

I've started making sculpture again and have been exhibiting on a regular basis at a newish local viewing space.
I suppose the impetus came from a real need to create things again and to let loose with a range of materials not just figurative pieces as had been the pasts main oeuvre. It is proving very satisfying and there is something rather delicious in the work to resolve the "struggle" between "the idea" and the material, particularly as I seem a lot freer to "just have a crack" and see what eventuates.

The piece above, "G'day Clem", was influenced from looking at Tatlin,  Schwitters and an early Clem Meadmore, hence the title. I had some 12mm Ply left over from other work and limited myself to just what was there and I think it concluded that constraint quite well.
Plywood with rust-paint patina 500mm high.

Steel

"Steel" were some water-tank stand supports that had been kicking around for years so I decided to put them together and keep them in one place.

Rusted steel on a plywood, rust-paint patinated base, 450mm wide, 300 high high.
Mrs. Wombat calls it The Arachnid Hotel.

Becoming more creatively active led to joining with a fellow artist and friend, painter, Paul Anthony and having a joint exhibition.

Planning started with building a scale model of the space and both of us scaling our respective works in what later became a successful exercise in placing our pieces in the areas allotted.
There were both old and new works: Paul with oils on canvas, and I slipped in some ballet photos and drawings to compliment the sculptures which were both
figurative and non- figurative.

Lawrence Winder... aka Shane Wombat.

Much was learned, and we were happy with the positive comments about the works and how professional the space looked.

We both sold well; Paul eight, me six which allowed me to finance a new "you-beaut" bench saw and for the first time in many years, re-organize the studio as a more efficient work space.

More later

Paul Anthony

The State of the Nation

Scummo, The Bullying Liar-From-the-Shire has finally decided to leave parliament and "work" for the Yanks. Given his history one can only surmise that he'll either be sacked or jailed by them in about 18 months.
This evil man's appointment of Ita "Tabloid Gel," Buttrose to head-up and dismember the ABC has proven remarkably effective as that once iconic broadcaster is now mostly just tabloid pap.
With many senior journalists either being sacked or resigning and management kow-tow-ing to whoever makes a complaint it's barely a shadow of what it once was.

I forced myself to view "Insiders" last Sunday morning for the first time in 2 1/2 years and as I've said elsewhere, it was just a vapid pastiche of a once informative and entertaining political discussion.  The host, "The Specious One," Speers who decided to move it to Sydney has created a flat, dull, featureless wasteland of far-right obviousness where bitchy comment and triviality pretends to be reasoned debate.

ABC has, since the defeat The Ruling-Rabble-Hellsong-IPA cabal  promoted them as if they're the government and Labor government ministers regularly have their pressers truncated.
Many of the broadcasters hosts are now completely open in their bias against the Labor which means that apart from two smallish readerships of "The Guardian"  and "The Saturday Paper" all press and media in this country is now right-wing... and mostly feral right-wing at that!

The relentless negativity toward what is a very good government will eventually have its impact at the ballot box as we saw in the defeat of the referendum... and a return to the vile, self-serving, criminality of the gross dross we suffered for nine years in quite on the cards.
The referendum result showed how alarmingly naive, selfish and unthinking this population is.
It doesn't auger well for the future.

Labor needs to kick some heads... and fast!

Hoo-roo, petals,

Shane.

Art in Hobart and other pornographies

G'day Possums,

MoNA Book with Shane
Shane at MoNA
Mrs Wombat and I took a trip to Hobart to visit The Museum of Old and New Art.
What an exciting place.
The eclectic approach to presenting works by theme rather than by style or chronology was inspiring.

Sculptures MONA, Hobart
Sculptures, MONA Hobart
Many of the works are not labelled; a deliberate choice of the collections' owner David Walsh in a move calculated to force the veiwer to consider the piece in its own context and that of the overall context.
It was interesting just how much this seemed to free you to consider things less rigidly and discover other relationships and meanings that you reflected on later in front of other works.
There are IPads to carry around which can inform you of work details and which have a funny symbol of a penis and testicles if you wish to a read of some curatorial "art-wank", as it is called.
Although very useful the IPads have a consequence somewhat more irritating than traditional labels as people do tend to stand in front of the works reading the bloody thing.

The arcitecture is stone, concrete and steel and its lighting allows works to be isolated and considered seperately as you wander this joyous maze of discovery.

This water piece had people spellbound as it "read" the news as it happened from the internet and re-inforced its concept that we only take in about 20% of that we see.
It also reminded me of an idea (ignored) I put forward for image projections on Lake Wendouree for the BIFB coming up in September.

And you will never look at "The Voice"  or any more of those "talent" programs in quite the same way after veiwing this video work. It was both excrutiatingly funny, pointed and poignant... rivetting stuff.

And real political pornography.

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and Tony (the rabbott) A’s current popularity?

Standing on the doorstep of Adelaide Ice Service, (27/4/13) Tony (Rabbott) Abbott claimed the company was one of the "many thousands and thousands and thousands of Australian businesses which is being badly damaged by this toxic tax (Carbon Price)". But what poor old Tony didn't know - or at least didn't say - is that Adelaide Ice was set to end up better off from the price on carbon in the form of thousands and thousands of dollars in industry assistance.

The company was awarded a $90,000 grant as part of the carbon price-funded Clean Technology Food and Foundries Program, which will see a solar power system installed in its manufacturing plant and actually reduce energy costs by up to $20,000 a year. Truth is, Adelaide Ice is better off with a price on carbon.

Tony may still need a coal-powered nightlight, but most Australians have realised that the carbon-bogeyman was just a made up fairy tale.

Joe (Oh-what-a-feeling) Hockey (alleged opposition Finance Minister} says re: the Fed’s  defict:…  “We’ll all be roooned, roooned, I say….but  I can’t tell you how we’ll fix it…  vote for us… …..please”!
He and Peter (I-Had-a-Baton) Costello carry on in interview like they are auditioning as replacements for “Zig and Zag”….. and are just as funny ….not.

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and T A’s current popularity?

Campbell(Il Duce)Newman, probably because of the federal election, has “put-on-hold” Costello’s suggestions of selling off schools and public housing in the Deep North…. Armageddon can wait for a more propitious ide.

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and T A’s current popularity?

Clive (Titanic2) Palmer wants to be Prime Minister.
This is not a joke, he does!

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and T A’s current popularity?

Leigh Sales (ABC’s 7:30) had another “Hissy-Fit” with Treasure Wayne (What’s-a-Surplus?) Swan t’other night.
Pity she wasn’t as even-handed with Abbott “Rabbott” earlier in week.
I’m beginning to wonder if she’s attempting to protect her position after the Liarbril’s romp home in the election and ABC funding gets slashed.
Then the dead hand of conservatism can say, “Look they can’t produce popular programs, so let’s sell it all off to Rupert(The-Ugly-American) Murdoch.

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and T A’s current popularity?

Napthines Mantra....

Pretend Premier, Dennis (Inutilus Rusticus) Napthine (ex Liarbril Geoff (Fiddles) Shaw is the real power) thought that the construction union marching to the wall that fell and killed three people to demonstrate workplace safety was in bad taste. Hmmmm,  I supposes he thinks the “buck-passing” between the Tardis State (where-all-goes-backward) Govt. and the Melbourne City Council over who issued the permits for the wall is not? Or having mounted police at the march to make it look like there was going to be a riot is not bad taste either?
“Inutilus Rusticus” has announced a surplus and put some money back into schools and hospitals which beggars the question, if you had a surplus in the first place why did you initially slash funding so severely?
“Fiddles” Shaw looks like getting the bonus he wanted and whilst Teachers, Nurses, Ambo’s and other Public Servants have to dog-fight for salary increases the Tardis State (Where-All-Goes-Backwards) pollies are going to increase their own entitlements which could be as much as $40,000 a year!
This is real political pornography.
“Inutilus Rusticus” has also announced a big new multi-billion dollar road tunnel which solve all our traffic problems for 15 seconds!
Rail is sooooo C19th!
This is to be funded partly by the Tardis State, The Feds and Private investment. Given that governments can borrow at much better rates than private corporations and therefore at less cost to the taxpayer in the long run, you wonder why people still believe the myth of Liarbrils being competent economic mangers or that they have any capacity to think beyond the election cycle and actually Govern for the State.

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and T A’s current popularity?

Vic police have been franchising their services to Bikie Gangs…. Some-thing smelly in the Tardis State?

Federal Liarbril’s announced their Industrial Relations Policy…. Which means that ''non-monetary benefits'' will become part of your pay. Imagine offering your bank manager 100,000 coffees as a deposit on the house you wish to purchase?
Sound stupid…see page 36 of the Liarbril brochure.

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and T A’s current popularity?]

Myer chief executive Bernie Brookes complained that the National Disability Insurance Scheme’s 0.5% levy increase was something that would hurt his company's profits: that it was money that consumers would have spent at its stores.
What a hero, what a speciman!
These two Myer workers are probably not smiling as much now as they cop “sprays” from customers about their mindlessly greedy boss.

What is the relationship between 1.3 million people watching “Celebrity Splash” and T A’s current popularity?

...on Holiday at TarraWarra with Jeff and Robert

sunbakiing Wombat

G’day Petals,
As it’s holiday time Mrs Wombat and I took a trip to the other side.

Tarra Warra panorama landscape
Tarrawarra panorama landscape
The Yarra Valley that is, to attend a retrospective of painter Jeffery Smart at TarraWarra.

exhibition at Tarra Warra
TarraWarra Gallery
Although we would have seen this show at some stage the “critique” by Robert Nelson in “The Age” (9-1-13) “Smart Ticks Boxes with Signature Style” prompted a sooner-rather-than-later excursion whilst the critiques’ effect was still fresh in mind.
It seemed to bear little relation to the tenor of the Smart work that I knew.
It was worth the early visit, for as the day panned-out there were many metaphors of
contemporary society to be experienced other than in the paintings.

Jeff Smart Tarra Warra
Amongst our favourite paintings were: “Self Portrait at Papini’s”, a work like “Morning Practice, Baia” and Clive James’ Portrait which seem to contradict Nelson’s assertion that “…….Smart is not an allegorical artist”.
Jeff Smart Tarra Warra Jeff Smart Tarra Warra Lawrence Winder

Self-portrait at Papini’s 1984-85 by Jeffrey Smart, courtesy Artist and the TarraWarra Museum of Art, Victoria
The garage door in “Papini’s” looks to be a “send-up” of Dale Hickey’s “Untitled” 1967-8 and the blue door shadow of the paper, a dead fishes tail (?), leaves a deadpan Smart in between both and the possibility of his exit, “stage right” through the open door.

Dale Hickey Jeff Smart Tarra Warra Lawrence Winder
Dale Hickey Untitled 1967-8

A conflict engendered perhaps between figurative and non-figurative artist-practitioners by critics for the critics’ ego and existence?
“Morning Practice” seems to conjure a personal act of art in a primary sense in its shapes, activity and colours. Balance, form and colour, is a hard act to get together.

Jeff Smart Tarra Warra Lawrence Winder
Morning Practice, Baia 1969
Clive James happily recounted being painted by Smart and delighted by the large portrait drawings he had seen was then bowled over by being finally represented as a tiny figure high up behind a big wall (fence) happily observing (chatting to) us down below. (pic on right )

Jeff Smart Tarra Warra Lawrence Winder

Asserting too, that Smart paints factories, high rise etc “….because it’s easy to paint….” Is (apart from being Brunswick St.-Barista-Bitchy) belied just by the detail of the crack and the wall texture above the “Hickey” door and in the solid reality of the figure in “On the Roof, Taylor Square” where, in this early work, the juxtaposition of the solidity of the figure and the flatness of the architectural forms behind seem to provide the “airy-ness” one can feel at heights…

Jeff Smart Tarra Warra Lawrence Winder
On the Roof, Taylor Square 1961

…. but then  Nelson sniffily points out “…abstraction that riddles the design affords freedom from noise and chaos in the representation.” and that “… his Roof-tops 1969… look like flat pieces of graphic design” and further, “Largely sparing himself the pains of incidental light and shadows across complicated forms….” “In Italy… he couldn’t reconcile the inflected architecture with the festive spaces that it frames”.
All of which only seem to suggest that Robert Nelson would paint Italy very differently to Jeffery Smart and that, ergo Smart should paint differently!
A criticism seemingly based upon what you would like to see, not what you have seen and understood
I’ve always liked the story of Francois Truffaut when, as a literary film critic he was challenged by the film-makers he was criticizing to “… go and make a film!”
He did. It was “The Four Hundred Blows.”
So here’s an example (I assume) of Nelson’s scenic painting style as a background to one of Polixeni Papapetrou’s (his wife) photographs, so you can see in comparison, his work for yourself.

Polixeni Papapetrou
Polixeni Papapetrou.net
Jeffery Smart painted to his own tune. He “hit” an “idea” young and developed it assiduously.
This exhibition is valuable in that you can partially track this development but also experience a wit, a somewhat sardonic view of humanity from the ordinary world culture of roads, freeways, car-parks and airports through the talent of someone who loving the works of  Piero della Francesca and Vermeer presents his subjects calmly in a similarly ordered space that allows the eye an extended looking to discover at its leisure.
Someone who obviously loved drawing, the placing of paint and the enjoyment of “working” a surface so that feeling and thought is revealed.

Tarra Warra Lawrence winder

This beautiful space “….is the first privately funded, significant public visual arts museum to be set up under the Australian Government’s philanthropic measures announced in March 1999. TWMA operates as a not-for-profit institution, with a charter to display Australian art from the second half of the twentieth century to the present day.”…. and after an excellent lunch, General Manager Simon Napthine came back to our table provide more details of the history of the place as he had overheard us ask some questions of our waitress.

The corollary of the Besen’s philanthropy to the arts is that it has extended to the staff here and they made it a perfectly enjoyable day for us with their natural good service.

Wombat Droppings

Jenny Macklin (Labor)  put her foot right in it but did something unusual for a pollie. Apologised!
Incompetent Baillieu Liabrils blame Labor Feds for faltering hospital system after Feds cut $107 Million from State of Tardis (where all goes backward) Health while forgetting to mention the $616 Million they have slashed.
But they say, the plan to spend it all on a new Tennis Centre is a good thing for the Tardis State.

Jonathon Moylan has caused much embarrassment to the share trading community with his ANZ letter hoax as they splutteringly attempted to explain just how straight their operations are…. Oohh look… there’s a rabbit!!
…and Peter (Children Overboard) Reith reckons he ought to be punished …perhaps like he was when his son ran up a $20,000.00 phone bill on Pete’s Commonwealth Pollies phone card!  Howard, (He of the Profligate spending) was inclined to think “It’s not a hanging offence!”

Abbott staffer kicks own goal with a clumsy attempt to paint him as human.

Chris (The Whyne) Pyne has been caught out lying again….again trying to support Abbott’s Neanderthal attitude to women

“Slippery Pete” has been collared by the ACT rozzers and might go to jail if found guilty of defrauding the Commonwealth of about $1000.00.
Pity the Liarbrils’are so quiet about it happening when he was one of them!

Geoff Shaw, Liarbril Member for Frankston is still sitting in Parliament having been found by Parliament to have defrauded the State.
Hey, Big Bird Baillieu (Genus: Silvertail Incompetens)….. what’s the difference?

Melbourne Airport Carpark holds Tardis State  (where all goes backward) to ransom over easier access to airport.
…and a nice little movie celebrating our Public transport officers….

.. to Brissie and QCP

G’day, Echidna’s

Here we are in the salubrious surrounds of Tiger Airways’ departure lounge…
on the rail transit from Brisbane airport… and on the apartment ledge in Brissie.

We’re up here for Wombats’ No:2 daughters’ part in a group exhibition at
Queensland Centre for Photography.
More of that later.

Its been a very long time since I was in Brissie and it has changed a lot.

Image on left: used to be the Treasury Building, now a Casino... and if that’s not a metaphor of Australian governance I don’t know what is.

Man upstaging dog…. I’m not kidding!

Young buskers had me thinking of a little girl drawing in the Musee Rodin. they were very good, too.

A much more vibrant city than when last seen…may it continue as such under its new regime.

At The Art Gallery I met and chatted with Henri van Noordenburg who was also going to QCP…. check his website .. very fine work.
http://www.vannoordenburg.com.au

exhibition
Kate Bernauer “I need a compass not an anchor”
Interesting works “…is an examination of our purpose and place in society.”
“Circles” I found quite intriguing in that the figure in the centre seemed to be a symbol for a nipple on a breast. Interestingly, too I found the increase in contrast in the catalogue images added much to the punch of the pictures.

Kathleen Winder “Columba Livia”
Portraits of pigeons .. clear, simple, straightforward expositions which allow an informing view of genetically modified birds. One comment was that they were in the vein of haute-couture fashion photography statements  which although an interesting insight says, I think, more about the commentator than the images.

 Gerwyn Davies “Steel Town Disciples”
“…playfully interrogates the construction and performance of normative and dominant masculinities and their iconography and in doing so, aims to contest the authority of prevailing masculinities and their commonplace representations”.
Yep! They were fetishistic and reference was made to Baroque Nature Morte and lighting but Caravaggio ‘s brio has become turgidly tub thumping.

Yavuz Erkan “Unorthodox Aphorisms”
“…..poeticise in the power relationships between showing, looking and being looked at.”
Catalogue made reference to “…a range of hues that are highly sensual”
I found the high key and limited tonal range belied that sensuality in the images. Rather, they took on a thin, sickly, cloying and insipid tone.
The placements struck me as too precise for such little content … these had the effect on me of a finger-nail being dragged down a chalkboard.

Nicolette Johnson “A Real Winter”
A rite of passage, a return to roots and a documentary of a journey…  very gentle and personal images that needed cross referencing to effectively contextualise them.
Was the framing intended as an institutionalised document?

Paula Mahoney “Just a Touch of Death”

A presentation of a series of portraits of different people, in the same pose, from the same viewpoint and in the same lighting, not resting their hands on the skull, symbol of vanitas…. Which is presented as a lone, irrelevant, or ignored(?) image.
It was an interesting concept in that you are somewhat forced by the repetition of elements to concentrate on the differences in the personalities.
“The images were photographed in the traditional way of the Baroque portraitist Cornelis de Vos.” This is disconcerting as much of de Vos work is generally lit from almost front, top and not as presented here at 90’ , “off prompt.”
Hmm, Baroque? More  High-Renaissance to me.. the light is not an active part in the composition as it invariably is in baroque work and these are presented in a very planar fashion, space stepping back parallel to the picture plane rather than sliding obliquely away which would have suggested a more complex lighting plan. I also thought these works could have been more successful, framed and at a smaller scale.

 Annemarie Dzendrowskyj  “Betwixt and Between”

The notional terms- ‘Twilight’/’Haze’ suggest a relationship of sorts that already exists between these two states
Painterly and evocative videos.

The contemporary fashion of extensive external referencing to somehow validate the existence of the works really gets an outing in this show.
I have now, the same rule of thumb for this practice as I do for advertising: The quality of the product is generally inversely proportionate to the amount of blather!
I think it’s a “blind” for the conceptually askew and those suffering from personality relevance deprivation.
It seems to me that much “art-photography” really tries too hard to be ART.
The heavy hands of “relevance”, the “glance askance” faux snapshot, the “choreographed meaningfulness” of staged landscape, the banal obviousness of “seminal metaphor”, the misappropriation of “art historical concepts”.
All of this is so bloody mock-serious.
Where’s the fun?
But its good to see it all; as each has its own merits and its also fun to hear other “takes” on the meanings, although as said earlier, we often express more about ourselves when critique-ing than we do of the work.

Kathleen with significant admirer

And finishing with a “teaser” for the next post

Giselle, Wilis....

Politics

State of Tardis’ top bird, the reluctant Ted Baillieu (genus: Silvertail lncompetens) was finally snared (after ten invites) for an interview with the redoubtable Josie Taylor on ABC’s “7.30 Victoria”: subsequent interview showed why.
His best shot came when challenged as to why he’d taken so long to appear; answering along the lines of ….I give lots of interviews and you’re quite welcome to come along any time.
So there!
And looked embarrassingly uncomfortable when Taylor suggested there were rumours that his media minders were advising him to go public as little as possible.
It was a contrived set-piece; there were no questions as to the obliteration of public secondary school and TAFE funding, Whooping Cough vaccinations, the sacking of environment workers, the corporate shambles at Hartie’s, the demise of private school, Mowbray College (from the maladministrations of a board of “enthusiastic amateurs”).

Baillieu doesn’t think his backbencher (allegedly)-with-hand-in-the-till, Geoff Shaw, should be charged by the police as no-one has laid a complaint…. I wonder if I could?
A member of the public did try and was fobbed-off by the police with what he said sounded like Tardis Govt. “spin”.
When Police start being overtly party-political you know something is really rotting in the state fabric.
But he thinks his Liarbrils are “….growing the State….” Yeah, right!
(Museum of Victoria has canned its work experience program for school students …”lack of funding” from Tardis Govt.)
The Tardis State: where all goes Backwards.

Mr Rabbit and Pyne the Whyne competed for the “Best Parliamentary Schoolboy Lark” by trying to escape Federal Parliament Question time by………………….. running away!
These people see themselves as a credible government in waiting?
Duuhhh!
Apart from their tasteless jibes, like “…dead man…” and their importation of the worst of American political practice what else can one think of them except as being a vicious, vacuous and policy bereft assortment of petty mealy mouths whose lack of alternative policy was exposed when recent Treasury numbers showed Auz to be in quite a healthy state.
The “Henny-Penny” crew’s doom-sayings were shown to be just dismal rantings for a bogan audience; Dun & Bradstreet quoted in its Global Risk Indicator that: “… Australia is one of the safest trade and foreign investment destinations globally…. best ranked in the Asia-Pacific….”

Australian Federal Police are looking decidedly dog-legged and impure after it is revealed (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-06-05/people-smuggler-discovery-a-catastrophic-failure/4052174)that people smugglers operating out of Canberra were admitted as refugees and spent 3 months in detention (fellow passengers spent 2 years) and when the prime suspect escapes the country after being publicly revealed AFP said they couldn’t arrest as they had not enough evidence “…. because of lack of resources”.
Wheat Board execs in Iraq bribery?  Case closed due to “…lack of resources”… smelly? You bet!
Should Howard, Reith, Costello and Downer feel relieved? You Bet!

Prostitute “found” by Ch.Nine alleged to have bonked Thomson (Labor) 5 years ago escapes to Ch Seven and says she got it wrong and apologises to Thomson and family. Shows more ethics than either Nine or Seven and the Liarbrils with their grubby tabloid boganisms.

Ex Senator Mark Abib (nominally Labor) now works for James Packer. Always was a numbers man!
Beware the “kingmaker”, James, he’s got form.

Cheers Echidnas,
Shane
